A little bit of this & a little bit of that

1. I seem to have the mice problem under control, THANKFULLY! However 1 must have died UNDER the house because Kasen's bathroom had a terrible stench BUT not to worry, nothing a little ammonia couldn't fix. {FYI put a little in a bowl in the area that smells & it will soak it right up}

2. After what seems like forever, my car is FINALLY fixed. Now with a rebuilt transmission she runs like new.

3. With Summer coming to an end, that means School is right around the corner, Antelope season is coming along with Dove Hunting, so the next month or so should be fairly busy.

4. I applied for a new job with the State, so hopefully I'll hear some good news.

Last but certainly not least the Wedding plans are going OK, I guess I should really get on the ball and gets things rolling...

Unwanted Battle...

Ever since the field was cut these disgusting little monsters have been trying to invade our house. I have caught 2 in the house, found 1 dead & got 2 more in the laundry room! After extensive research on how to get rid of the nasty rodents {without leaving poison out} because of {our chickens & turkeys} I found the following information shocking, interesting & hopefully helpful:

Chocolate Plaster of Paris~
Take plaster of Paris (dry) and mix it with chocolate milk powder and set it so the mice can eat it. It will be a dry powder. The good idea about this mixture is that the mice will leave the house to find water after they eat it so they will not die in the house. It is also basically non-toxic, having no poison in it.

Instant Potatoes~
have a rather frugal option for getting rid of field mice that an old farmer told me about and it really does work: Use instant mashed potatoes; they are much cheaper and a lot safer than rat poisons. Place a few tablespoons where the mice are seen most often; try to keep them out of reach of the dog, just to be safe. The mice will eat the instant potatoes and die because the potatoes will expand in their stomachs before they can fully digest them.

Carbonated Soda~
Put sweet, carbonated soda in a saucer and place where the mice can drink from it. The carbonization kills the mice; that way you won't have to use poisons or traps, especially if you have small children around.

Kohls...

Has some super great deals going on right now! I went shopping today & got Kasen some great stuff for over 80% off. The shorts I found (Tony Hawk) were orignally $32 & I got them for $6 along with some polos which were only $4. If you are looking for some new clothes for the little ones I suggest going to Kohls ASAP. The new 1 on 215 is AWESOME. School clothes shopping will be done way before Summer is over if these great deals stick around.
